ViTrox Returns to PISF 2024 with Interactive Workshops and Exhibitions in the Age of AI

ViTrox’s booth at PISF Press Conference 2024

PENANG, MALAYSIA - NOVEMBER 2024 - ViTrox is set to participate in the Penang International Science Fair (PISF) 2024, bringing innovative workshops and exhibitions to inspire the next generation in science and technology. This year's event, themed "Inspiring Innovation Everywhere (In The Age of AI)," will be held at SPICE Arena and Concourse on 30 November and 1 December 2024.

PISF is organised by the Penang Science Cluster (PSC), an organisation dedicated to building a robust talent pipeline in Penang and Malaysia. Aligned with ViTrox's educational mission to nurture the next generation of STEM talents, PSC aims to spark interest in science and technology while fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among young people through hands-on, inquiry-based programs.

ViTrox’s volunteers prepare materials for workshops

The two-day science fair will feature a comprehensive lineup of activities, including industry exhibitions, interactive workshops, competitions, and MakerFest. As both an exhibitor and workshop organiser, ViTrox will lead an engaging workshop on Sensor-Powered Night Lights, where participants can learn to build simple circuits using a breadboard and explore practical applications of sensor technology.

A glimpse into ViTrox's exhibition activities for PISF which are designed to align with ViTrox’s College diploma courses:

1. Marble Sorting Machine

This project combines cardboard and 3D-printed parts to create a marble sorting machine according to the marble size and colours. Players will then arrange the sorted marbles on a butterfly-shaped board, filling in the wings with vibrant colours.

2. Arduino Interactive Light

This project uses a voice sensor with Arduino to control an LED strip that lights up the VA lotus logo. The louder the voice, the brighter the lotus glows, gradually illuminating the entire logo.

3. Motion Tracking Game

Players will use machine learning to interact with a virtual swarm of butterflies. By performing specific movements, and drawing a V-shape, players can summon butterflies that form patterns in the air. The goal is to connect these butterflies by pointing from one to another, making their wings flutter with each connection. Once all the butterflies are linked, they will gracefully take flight, symbolizing the power of innovation and connection.

Additionally, ViTrox has also collaborated with local MakerLab Schools to offer unique learning experiences:

  • LED Board Crafting with SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman: Participants will learn digital art techniques through engraving on acrylic boards and assembling LED components.

  • Custom Projectors and Mirror Maze with SMK St Xavier: Students can construct their own custom projectors and explore the principles of light reflection through an interactive mirror maze.

The event is open to students and the public from 9 AM to 5 PM on both days, with no prior registration required. Visitors are welcome to join the workshops and exhibitions at their convenience.
